Working on 140 lb 100% cotton watercolor paper, I begin with a masking fluid scribble that establishes movement and energy. I splash water onto the surface, creating organic textures evolving into natural elements like water, foliage, flowers, or rocks.
I embrace a wet-on-wet technique that combines brushwork with gravity. The paint flows and blends according to its properties. Layers of splattered paint build depth and dimension. When needed, I incorporate colored pencil or black gesso for definition and contrast.
I varnish each piece, eliminating the need for glass or plexiglass, allowing viewers to experience the work without barrier or reflection.
I teach art classes and provide workshops in my studio, requested locations as well as online using Zoom and with Etchr.
